xx Megaman's 30th Anniversary Stage Show at TGS

September 09, 2017, 12:28:39 AM by Sakura Leic
https://gonintendo.com/stories/289729-capcom-s-tgs-2017-lineup-includes-a-mega-man-30th-anniversary-sta

Well since I unfortunately don't have the qualifications to make a news topic I unfortunately have to make due here unless someone wants to transfer this to the appropriate sub forum.

Anyway in December Megaman celebrate's it's 30th year anniversary at TGS 2017, hopefully the Blue Bomber gets back into relevancy in the upcoming years besides the cartoon which I feel most of us have low expectations for, but at the very least I hope it brings new blood to the franchise and hopefully interests news fans. But as I've learned over the years it's best to keep expectations in check.

June 05, 2017, 07:46:25 PM by VixyNyan
It has been confirmed, after one recent collection for our dear Blue Bomber, that another collection called "Mega Man Legacy Collection 2" will be showing up in North America and Europe regions on Windows PC (Steam), Xbox One and Playstation 4 on August 8, 2017. An MSRP of $19.99 USD has also been detailed, with retail releases for Xbone and PS4, as well as digital releases on Steam, Xbone and PS4. An announce trailer for this collection has also been posted for viewing.

http://youtu.be/iamiA3ki4-o

This collection of ported games, like previous collection, will be remastered in 1080p with bunch of in-game content. The collection will consist of Mega Man 7, Mega Man 8, Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10, with the DLC content included.

The collection will also have various game features in it, like Challenge Mode, Leaderboards, Replays, Museum and Music Player. The Challenge Mode will have a mix of trials and challenges for each game, like example fighting against the robot masters one after another or play through every level with only one life bar. And as such, your performance will be uploaded to online leaderboards and store replays for other player to look at. The Museum will have history, high resolution artwork, sketches and other image materials that you can look at from the lore of Mega Man. Lastly, a new option called First-timer Friendly, for those new to the series, which gives players an additional armor during gameplay, as well as Save checkpoints for easy reloads.

xx The UNTHINKABLE: Legends 1 on PSN

September 23, 2015, 03:51:46 AM by Hypershell
PS3 and Vita owners (no PSP this time) will be able to download the first Legends game for ten bucks next week.

http://www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/blog/2015/09/22/mega-man-legends-coming-to-north-american-playstation-store

The last round of research/speculation pegged PS1 L1 as the most legally troublesome Legends game to rerelease, so this hopefully means that L2 isn't far behind. And yes, I'd REALLY like to see Nintendo get in on that action with MM64, but I'll take what I can get.

xx Mega Man movie apparently under development

September 03, 2015, 11:39:20 PM by Protoman Blues
According to the Tracking-Board, there is apparently a Mega Man movie under development from 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment. I'm kind of at a loss for words, even though one shouldn't be surprised at the kinds of movies being made today. It is unclear at the moment whether this is going to be a live-action movie or an animated movie, but given that most people don't spend a lot of money to see animated movies not made by Pixar or Dreamworks, odds are it will be live action. Feel free to place your bets though.

As for the production company behind this, I'll simply quote a part of that article.

Quote
One positive sign of things to come is Chernin Entertainment. David Ready and Michael Finfer are overseeing for the company, while Peter Chernin produces. Together they have a pretty solid pedigree for sci-fi action movies, including the recent/upcoming Planet of the Apes films. Mike Ireland and Ryan Horrigan are overseeing for Fox.

The recent Planet of the Apes movies are indeed excellent, so that is some comfort in these questionable and curious times. Still though, they're making a movie about a video game, so anything goes at this point.

More on this story as it develops.

xx Mega Man Legacy Collection coming to PC, Xbox One, Playstation 4 & Nintendo 3DS

June 08, 2015, 06:58:21 PM by VixyNyan
It has been confirmed, after a long hiatus of no new games for our dear Blue Bomber, that a collection called "Mega Man Legacy Collection" will be showing up in North America and Europe regions on Windows PC (Steam), Xbox One and Playstation 4 sometime this summer and on Nintendo 3DS later this winter. A trailer for this collection has also been posted for viewing.

http://youtu.be/yVfeUq5TmQs

It has been stated that this collection of ported games will be remastered in 1080p with bunch of in-game content and will be sold digitally for $14.99 USD / 11.99 GBP. The collection will be developed by Digital Eclipse Software, the studio that worked on the Sega Genesis Collection in the past.

The collection will consist of the first six Mega Man games from the NES, similar to what Capcom has done before with the Complete Works releases on PS1, as well as the Mega Man Anniversary Collection by Atomic Planet, but without MM7, MM8, Power Battle and Power Fighters.

The collection will also have various game features in it, like Challenge Mode, Leaderboards, Replays, Database and Museum. The Challenge Mode will have a mix of trials and challenges for each game, like example fighting against the robot masters one after another or play through every level with only one life bar. And as such, your performance will be uploaded to online leaderboards and store replays for other player to look at. The Database will allow you to look at enemies and bosses, and also have you practice playing against these bosses without having to play through the whole level first. Museum will have history, high resolution artwork, sketches and other image materials that you can look at from the lore of Mega Man.

xx New Mega Man Animated Series coming to Television in 2017

June 02, 2015, 07:30:21 PM by Protoman Blues
*blows dust off new News button*

Haven't had to do this in a while, but well yeah, this is legit news. According to this article on Deadline, we are getting a brand new Mega Man animated series on television in 2017, which would coincide with the 30th anniversary of our beloved franchise. Dentsu Entertainment USA and Man of Action Entertainment will partner up to create this new iteration of the Super Fighting Robot (see what I did there? 8D). If you need some street cred on Man of Action Entertainment, here you go.

Quote
Man of Action Entertainment is the bi-coastal creative collective responsible for such mega-hits as the Ben 10 empire and Generator Rex on Cartoon Network, and writing and producing Marvels Ultimate Spider-Man and Marvels Avengers Assemble for Disney XD. They are also the creators of the characters and team that populate Disney/Marvels hit feature film, Big Hero 6, the first-ever Disney animated feature based on a Marvel property.

More on this as it develops. Either way, WOOHOO!!!!

xx Mega May: Vote for a handheld title and it may release first!

March 31, 2014, 08:54:26 PM by Phi

Quote
Six portable classics are about to hit the North American Virtual Console on Nintendo 3DS! The four remaining Game Boy Mega Man titles AND Mega Man Xtreme 1~2 (of Game Boy Color fame) are nearly ready for their eShop debut, and both Capcom Unity and Nintendo want YOU to decide which one launches first!

Vote in the above poll by 10am PT April 14 to make your choice known. Which of these classics will take the top spot? Mega Man V, with its unique Mega Arm and Stardroids (no Wily!)? Or perhaps you'd prefer Xtreme 2, with playable Zero and DNA Soul System?

Either way, the winning title will release on May 1, 2014. After that, it's "Mega May" as the remaining titles release each Thursday. Pick your favorite, but should your choice not release first, it'll still be out mere weeks later :)

While I will keep my vote secret for now (can't sway the vote!), please share your choices and rally others to get your favorite out on May 1!

Simply go to the above link to cast your vote. You have roughly 2 weeks till the voting period ends, so there's plenty of time.

Happy voting everyone!

xx 2014 Rockman Valentine's Day Fanart Contest *CLOSED*

January 09, 2014, 07:06:17 AM by Rock Miyabi
Is your subzero polar vortex melting away? Then it must be time for my 7th (nearly)annual Megaman Valentine's Day Contest!

So our 25th anniversary celebration was a dud. None of the merchandise, nor even a Fabio-lous Jewel Man, seemed to brighten the day of even the most hopeful fan. While I cant give away a new game as a prize - and I know some of you are probably sick of the merchandise Ill be giving away we can still show our love and appreciation for a franchise that has and will continue to be a part of our favorite gaming memories.

Im going to add a slight addition to the format this year. As usual, there will be two categories, one that focuses on humor, and one that focuses on talent. But Im also going to mix it up with a random raffle category, too. Just enter a drawing in that category and you have an equal chance at winning no matter what your skill level or humor is.

I threw together my usual deviantART poll for category themes, and Ill run with the top two. There was only one clear winning theme, and itll be used for the Talent competition.

PRIZES:

This year the pick your prize at this price option more or less goes away. Although, if the winner already has what I am offering, and prefers to replace it with a cash prize through Paypal, it will be an option. Overall, Im going pretty big this year, paying out well over $350 USD in goods for you guys. The prizes for each category will be listed separately below.

RULES:

Three categories, which you are allowed to enter in each if you would like. If you place in one category, you will be automatically disqualified from the other, for reasons of fairness, and to give other people a chance to win a prize. The category rundown is as follows:

CATEGORY 1: Rock, Draw Me Like One of Your Reploid Girls (Talent)

Content Requirements:

- Draw your favorite Megaman character(s) posing for a classy, seductive pinup.

Way back in early 19XX, a young, poor artbot named Rock Light won tickets aboard the luxury cruise liner, DWNTitanicMach2. After the ship struck the small, iceberg-tipped head of an arctic robot later known as Chill Man, Rock saved the life of _____, keeping them from falling off the edge of the ship. The two struck up a relationship and _____ marveled at the beautiful foreign women that filled Rocks sketchbooks. Rock was on Mighty Cloud 9, and felt like he was the King of the World. _____s billionaire playbot fianc King begged to differ... Finally, after days of coy advances, ______ realized her true feelings for Rock and asked the artist, Rock, draw me like one of your Reploid girls.

So, since I guess you guys really wanted to see how far Id push this category, Im gonna let you draw some sexy pics. As long as they are artistic and suitable for dA, Ill allow it. That doesnt mean you have to draw totally risqu pics, or that one will even win. Ladies, you can reverse the scenario and draw male pinups if you prefer.

This theme will work as the talent category, so the judging will focus on the effort and skill you put into you piece. Prove to us you can outdo the Van Goghbots, Super Fighting Rubens and Dr. Monets of the artistic world.

Prizes
1st: Bandai Sigma Figuarts or D-Arts figure of your choice*
2nd: Bandai D-Arts figure of your choice*
3rd: OCRs For Everlasting Peace CD or Archie Comics Graphic Novel

*Excludes rare, pricey options like Iwamoto Comic Ver. X or ComicCon variant. Sorry, must be within reason.

CATEGORY 2: Never Gonna Give You Up (Humor)

Content Requirements:

- Draw your favorite Megaman villain carrying off another character, or characters, in the name of love and companionship
- Make sure it is clear they are never gonna give them up, never gonna let them down, never gonna run around and desert them, never gonna make them cry, never gonna say goodbye, and last but certainly not least, never gonna tell a lie and hurt them.
- Drawing big hair, bigger microphones, trenchcoats, sunglasses, backflipping bartenders, and smooth dancing is purely optional.

You know the game, and were gonna play it.

Kidnapping is pretty common in the Megaman Universe, if not video games in general. Besides a bunch of Robot Masters, Wily has nabbed Kalinka, Roll, Lightwell, who hasnt he...? Zeros body has been stolen. Tiesel has been taken by Glyde. Shademan.EXE swooped in for Roll.EXE. Luna was whisked away by the phantom Hyde. I could go on for a while with canon examples.

But why did they do it? Well, thats easy. All those villains are pretty lonely, and now they just want someone to hold on to this Valentines Day. And to make it worse, they all have a catchy 198X song by the one-hit-wonder popbot Rock Astley stuck in their heads. Yes, that Rock Astley. Who became an Internet phenomenon thanks to the meme known as RockRollN.

By no means are you required to allude to the music video linked above visually in your art. For some it would add to the humor, for others, probably not. The key concept in this category is merely a villain seizing the object of their desire in the most humorous way possible.

Prizes
1st: Rare Mattel Megaman NT Warrior ShadeMan.EXE prototype figure with bonus battlechip selection
2nd: Rare Mattel Megaman NT Warrior FreezeMan.EXE prototype figure with bonus battlechip selection
3rd: OCRs For Everlasting Peace CD or Archie Comics Graphic Novel

CATEGORY 3: Subarus Mom Has Got It Goin On (Raffle)

Content Requirements:

- Draw any sort of Valentines Day pic involving Hoshikawa Akane (Hope Stelar)

Sorry, another music reference in this category. But my watchers voted for it. This is gonna be the raffle category. The requirements are painfully easy. MegaMom Star Force imagery.

So, this prize better be good to make us draw something in this category just to appease you Miyabi, you say. OK, fine. Ill roll the dice and hope I can still find this for a good price next month, without it inflating in rarity too much. Otherwise the winner will probably be getting my set.

Prizes
One randomly chosen winner, pulling a name out of a random internet generator, will get a 20th Anniversary Rockman X Sound Box Set.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Only submit your own work, as usual. Any character, major or minor, from any series is allowed, to go along with the characters required in each category. Pairing characters from different series is totally allowed. Again, to be fair to all, same-gender groupings are allowed.

Participants are allowed to submit from all over the world. Its easier for me to get prizes to US entrants however, because international shipping is complicated and pricey, but Ill do what I can for you guys who arent in the States. In some cases, a cash payout through Paypal might be the best option for your winnings.

Entries do not need to be colored, but it is preferred.

Entries can either be e-mailed to me at rock2125[at]hotmail[dot]com, or you can just PM/note me a link to your pic.

DO NOT post your pics in this thread, in your fanart threads or dA galleries until the contest is over. This is the fairest way for competitive reasons. I prefer to keep them all secret until the deadline has passed.

I'll edit a confirmed entry list in this thread when I receive them. So you won't be in the dark about whether or not I've received your entry.

DEADLINE:

The deadline for this contest will be Friday, February 14th, by 11:59PM CST IS OVER. This gives you exactly a full month + one week from this announcement to submit your artwork.

MISCELLANEOUS INFO:

As usual, If you don't plan to enter, but would like to help me judge, please let me know through PM or mention so in this journal. Thanks to all my usual judges, and Ill gladly let you help with it again if youre willing.

*RPM Judge Team, Assemble!*

Bug me with questions if you have any. Please join in, and good luck to everyone who enters!

Judges:
- Rock Miyabi, Dr. Wily II, Protoman Blues, Quickman, Phi

Confirmed Entries:

Category 1: Tabby, Rootay, Revolver-Wing Studios, Borockman, HiyashiX2, Blackhook, Radix, RedNeo117, KaitlinEXE, Tacticalpigeon, Owl-bound, Okamikai

xx 3DS Virtual Console to get all the Mega Man Game Boy Games

July 18, 2013, 08:27:16 PM by Protoman Blues
Alas, my MMMania GameStop purchased slip, I hardly knew ye.

According to Capcom-Unity, every Mega Man game on the Game Boy will be joining Mega Man in Dr. Wily's Revenge on the 3DS Console.

Quote
More good news for the Virtual Console today...

Quite a while ago, the first Game Boy Mega Man title (Dr Wily's Revenge) landed on the 3DS VC. That naturally led most of us to wonder, "are the rest of the GB games coming to 3DS?" Welp, after a year of wondering that myself, I'm happy to say Mega Man II, III, IV and V are ALL coming soon to the US and EU.

This is a great piece of news, as Mega Man V remains one of the coolest oddball (used in the most affectionate way possible) games in the series. Instead of Robot Masters, Mega Man fights Stardroids, and instead of a typical Mega Buster charged shot, he has a Mega Arm projectile attack (similar to the MM6/7 Rush upgrade). It's a very clever entry that's been hard to legitimately play for years, so pick it up!

Mega Man IV is equally impressive, combining aspects of the NES Mega Man 4/5 to create one new experience. I daresay it's the best of the NES mimics (I, II and III also mix enemies and bosses from the NES) and well worth a look.

But wait, there's more!

Mega Man Xtreme 1 and 2 are ALSO coming to 3DS! Like the aforementioned GB titles, these two remix aspects of the SNES games (plus some X4 stuff in Xtreme 2) to create something new. Xtreme 2 is particularly interesting, with its playable Zero and DNA souls / parts system.

Now, we don't have release dates set just yet, but given how cool this information is (especially MMV), I thought it was worth sharing ASAP. I'll certainly share the dates as soon as we lock 'em down, and we should have even more VC updates in the coming weeks.

Here's the link.

Well, if I can assign SNES controls to the Xtreme games, perhaps I'll actually give them the time of day! 8D
